Mrs Quagmyre's wish has come true: Aura and Martin have been abducted. No longer on Earth, their fate is caught up with that of captains of two of the most epically pointless starships in the known Universe.

It follows Martin Nova and his sister Aura, twins whose lives are upended by strange disappearances, alien technology, and a cast of bizarre beings. The story opens with Martin aboard an extravagant starship, bickering with his sarcastic android assistant, before flashing back to the siblings’ curious childhood, marked by vanishing parents, decrepit great-grandparents, and a malicious housekeeper.

As the narrative unfolds, Aura and Martin become entangled with an enigmatic tramp-captain named Lokshard, whose ruined ship and cryptic warnings pull them into a multidimensional conflict involving alien interference, temporal paradoxes, and the mythical “Shatter Mines of Gomm.” Told with biting wit and surreal dialogue, the tale parodies classic sci-fi tropes while exploring themes of lost family, unreliable reality, and humanity’s comic struggle against forces it can’t comprehend.
